Guitarist Tom Cykman has been gaining increasing recognition in the music scene, participating in projects such as Alexandre Rodrigues Trio (Kaeté) as a guitarist, Ivan Sacerdote’s work (Aroeira) as a music producer, and also performing in a duo with Ivan himself, who’s a Latin Grammy Nominated artist. He is currently also a member of the group led by Jota P — saxophonist, flutist, and composer, and a two-time Latin Grammy winner alongside Hermeto Pascoal.
With international recognition, he has toured Argentina, Portugal and Israel (Shablul Jazz). He has been a guest teacher at UFRGS and UFMG universities, teaching improvisation classes in the undergraduate Popular Music programs, in courses taught by Julio Herrlein and Lucas Telles, respectively.
Throughout his career, he has shared the stage with musicians such as Edu Ribeiro, Robertinho Silva, Shabaka Hutchings (Sun Ra Arkestra), Renato Braz, Luísa Mitre, Túlio Araújo, Fábio Leal, Iury Batista, among others. His first album, Chorando em Frente, released in 2024 in a duo with Félix Júnior, received critical acclaim from both specialized and general media outlets, including Instrumental Verve, Calendário do Choro, G1, Folha de S.Paulo, Cultura FM, and Guitarload Magazine.
